Yourself and all of your family from now until 2050 are only allowed to own vehicles (new or used) from three brands. No badge swapping, no like automaker, just straight up three brands. What three brands would you choose? Realize that if one of these brands disappears or changes names then you’re out of luck. Whatcha gonna do?!

Ford, Volvo, Honda.
Ford or Honda are bound to be around the next 30 years. Volvo would be my most likely choice if I had money for a luxury car.

Mercedes, Bentley, and Chevrolet.
Those brands will never go away. Plus, I could then have 3 of my favorite cars, a C63, Brooklands, and Corvette.

Toyota, Honda, BMW
So have sports cars, commuter cars, trucks, race cars and motorcycles. Pretty sure that’s most bases covered.

Dodge, Ford and International.
I would totally Daily this beast if given the chance!

Ford, Mazda, and Mercedes. All three capable of producing exciting cars, and a supply drought is unlikely with all three. Relatively good cars for basically every application you could want? Sounds like a win to me.

bentley? like most other british car manufacturers, bentley has numerous times been at risk of fading into oblivion. likely during its first sale to RR, and then when rolls itself went into bankruptcy.and finally, now that vw is on the hook for some $15 billion in fines, im sure the high end niche lux vag brands are going to be the first to be trotted out to eyeing buyers.
not saying its a bad choice, as id be happy to drive the same bently for the next 35 years. just pointing out that i wouldnt really consider bentley to be a bastion of historical corporate strength.

Rolls really would have been the better selection in terms of the name being around forever, but I've always been more of a Bentley guy. You make good points though.

Mazda - for fun
Lexus - for real world reliability (Why not Toyota? Because more 1UZ and more 2JZ.)
Ford - large do-anything brand to cover any other needs (I could have chosen Chevy just as easily, I suppose...perhaps I tend to lean towards Ford from their many years of affiliation with Mazda.)

Mazda, Subaru, Ford.

Mazda, BMW and Volvo (I would’ve chosen Lancia or Saab for the last slot instead but they’re a bit too impractical to survive off until 2050).

BMW, Ford, Subaru
That way I could always have the option of luxury cars, sports cars, muscle cars, pick up trucks, and badass economy cars.
